Students who wish to study during the summer period (May - August) may apply for financial assistance to take classes at Quinnipiac University, study abroad through our Ireland program or study abroad at another ABA-approved law school. The cost of attendance for the Ireland program is available under separate cover in the Office of Financial Aid.
Summer financial aid is processed separately from the academic year's financial aid. Students who wish to enroll during the summer must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits to be considered for Federal Direct Loan Programs. There are a few private educational loan programs that may be used for those enrolled in less than 6 credits. In addition, you must be in compliance with the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined by the Law School. Check with the Office of Financial Aid to determine your status.
The primary sources of assistance for summer study are in the form of federal unsubsidized loans, federal graduate PLUS loans and private educational loans. Please be advised that the maximum federal unsubsidized loan per academic year is $20,500. Therefore, if you choose to borrow a portion of your federal unsubsidized loan during the summer, your eligibility for the subsequent fall and spring semesters will be reduced.
These costs reflect estimated 2024-2025 charges. The tuition is based on the number of credits at $1,500 per credit hour. Students are charged by the University for housing accommodations on the Trinity campus for 33 nights; the actual amount charged will be calculated on the exchange rate in effect in May. Students who elect to stay off-campus may pay more or less. Amounts listed for books, food and transportation expenses are estimated allowances that are not part of a student’s bill but are included for budgeting. Meals are based on an estimated daily rate of $65. Travel is based on estimated round-trip fares to Dublin from Connecticut or New York. Students should budget additional funds should they plan to travel throughout Ireland. Insurance is required for students studying abroad. Tuition and fees are subject to change. Total amount of loan funds received may be less than the amount requested due to the deduction of loan fees, depending upon the loan type.
